Appoint us as your attorney

Many people choose to appoint NSW Trustee & Guardian as their attorney because we are neutral and provide a team of professionals experienced in all aspects of financial management and law to support you.
We can act as your attorney in a short or long-term arrangement and will tailor the level of assistance to suit your needs.
If you wish to appoint us as your independent attorney or substitute attorney, you can do this in two different stages - making your Power of Attorney (Future Assist) and activating your Power of Attorney (Active Assist).
Future Assist
Future Assist provides you with a ‘safety net’ Power of Attorney option.
With this plan, you will have the expert and immediate assistance of NSW Trustee & Guardian to safely manage your financial affairs should you be unable to do so in the future or should the unexpected occur.
This includes provision for:
-
payment of bills
-
income issues
-
investments and assets
-
taxation.
Active Assist
Active Assist gives you the freedom to choose the exact level of assistance you need through a Power of Attorney.
You can use Active Assist to have NSW Trustee & Guardian manage your day-to-day financial tasks, including:
-
collection of income
-
payment of bills
-
maintenance and management of property
-
processing of health fund accounts
-
investment of your surplus savings
-
assisting you with portfolio reviews or tax returns
-
buying and selling of real estate (including dealing with interests in retirement villages)*.
You can also use Active Assist if you:
-
find it daunting dealing with banks and other financial institutions
-
wish to actively oversee your finances but would like us to manage bills and other expenses
-
wish to ensure that we can do this for you under your Enduring Power of Attorney if you lose the ability to self-manage.
