Olivia learns the importance of making a Will
Written by Stephanie Crouch
When planning for her wedding day Olivia never imagined that a Will would be something she added to her Pinterest board.
Olivia is 38 years old and admits she took her time to find her perfect match.
She met Ben five years ago. Three years into their relationship, they purchased their first property together. A year later Ben proposed, and Olivia accepted.
To help plan for her wedding day Olivia attended a wedding expo.
‘I thought it was interesting that a Will maker was at a wedding expo, so I decided to have a closer look’, says Olivia.
‘I was greeted by a NSW Trustee and Guardian Will maker. She took the time to answer my questions; mainly the connection between marriage and Wills.’
‘She was thorough, professional and even humorous which was a nice surprise considering the sensitivity around making a Will.’
Olivia made her first Will in her early twenties just after she purchased her first investment property, but a Will wasn’t something Ben had ever viewed as a priority.
‘He knew it was something he needed to do one day, but not in his early forties’, says Olivia.
‘I wanted to make sure that if one of us were to pass away, the other would be looked after’.
Three months after their wedding Oliva and Ben contacted NSW Trustee and Guardian.
‘I was surprised by how quick and simple making a Will was. Being able to make my Wills via video conference was really convenient’, says Ben.
‘The team were professional and friendly the entire time.’
Making a Will is probably the last thing on your mind when planning your special day, however it is an important life event that can affect your Will.
Planning ahead is an important step that people often forget when getting married, but NSW Trustee and Guardian is here to ensure you and your loved ones are protected.
